As SAPPO regard the production of a high quality, save product for the consumer a priority, the organisation monitors the residue levels in the pork produced by its members. The aim of the residue tests is to establish if local producers adhere to the withdrawal periods stipulated by pharmaceutical companies on antibiotics administered to pigs. Onderstepoort conducts the tests on representative samples collected from producers.
